Some scientists are also driven by Leftist ideology (and money). I contend that Leftist ideology is a kind of religion. It isn't deity-based (for the most part), but it certainly fills the same meaningfulness void that religion fills.

When I tell my Marxist and secular humanist friends their ideology is a religion, they get mad with me. But it is still a matter of faith in that it hasn't been proven to achieve its desired objective. Actually, to the contrary, it has been proven to be a consistent failure.

I agree with this deduction. Any mass psychological trend that is rooted in myth, illogical irrationality, and emotion could be deemed a religion.
