TR, I think some clarity is needed regarding the words post and posting.
FR allows us to POSt articles and information. After that people are able to make numbered COMMENTS. Some people refer to this as POSTING, but these are COMMENTS, not POSTS. In my comment #61 I suggested if the FReeper did not like Mom’s Daily POST, they should simply not look at it. In your comment about “scrolling down the page,” it is unclear if the page you mean is one listing the many different new posts or pings, or the page of comments following Mom’s original Daily POST.
Regarding monitizing videos, articles, etc. It is true that some are making money from the placers of ads at these sites which I guess get paid for by every click. On the other hand they also make money from people subscribing which is strictly voluntary and probably pays more, or individual contributions. This is how Free Republic is financed.
It is important to understand these nuances. For example I know our candidate Trump is collecting millions of dollars from supporters. Are they all aware that a lot of this money is being used to pay his lawyers, and NOT for campaign activities. People have the right to pay for his campaign activities and for his lawyers but should understand where their money is used. Personally I question the competence of some of his legal experts, and prefer my money be spent for the campaign activities Trump does so effectively.
As to the "they should simply not look at it," then there would be no give and take on Free Republic. No disagreements. Just rubber stamps or silence. Don't like something? Move on.
As to how Free Republic is financed, Free Republic is not financed by clicks nor by posting click bait.
