After reading this article, with it’s switches between beer, ale and lager, I think Mary may have been sampling a few while writing.

Yeah, I don’t drink anymore either. I thouhgt the American Pale Ales got carried away with the hops. Some of the stuff had so many Cascade hops in it that I thought I was drinking Pine-Sol.
I’ll put in a good word for Clausthaler Dry Hopped - Non Alcoholic. Best NA ‘beer’ I’ve tried by far. Has just enough of the Cascade and other hops to give it an edge, but not over-hopped. It’s also a good bit cheaper than some of the other NA beers, at least around N.GA.

I’m interested in a taste test between ale and mead.

All these IPA people when tasting say “Hmmm, maybe if we add more hops”.

So, can we be consistent on whether to call it “beer” or “lager”?
Sure seems to be constantly interchanging the words in here.

One is spelled with 4 letters and the other with 3 letters.

Some of those hops-abusing brewers have decided to jump into the craft distilling game as well, making American single-malt using their own beer recipe in the process. It yields a nasty turpentine note on the nose and palate.

What’s the difference between beer nuts & deer nuts?
Beer nuts are $1.25, deer nuts are under a buck.

You can easily make ale in your own home. Lager requires refrigeration, which makes it too difficult unless your partner is willing to sacrifice a lot of your fridge space. ALOT.

Yeah, I know but I’d still like to try some since I’m sure my Scottish ancestors enjoyed that drink.

Recently was introduced to Bierstadt (slow pour pilsner) brewed in Denver. One of the best beers I've tasted ever. Their area of distribution is limited for the most part to the front range of Colorado. I live in western Colorado but travel to Denver fairly frequently making a point of bringing back a couple of 4 packs of Bierstadt. Being a boutique brewery, they sell their beer in 16 ounce 4 packs ... cost is about $14.00 per 4 pack. Having visited Pilsen, Czechoslovakia (about 50 miles west of Prague) where it all began some 175 years ago I consider myself a quasi-expert on Pilsner beer.

Lagers are beers. Ales are also beers.
So what you are asking is like “is it a ‘car’ or is it a ‘chevy’”?

My mom use to drink Ale because she said it was smoother than beer.
