It sounds like the EV virtue signalers want some whine with their cheese....
:-)
EVs only - I pinged the mods to change the title to reflect that. As it is, it’s only ‘fair’, but I will concede that most EV owners don’t actually ‘drive’ their cars, but rather keep them nice and shiny to show off to people at parties.
EVs are dirtier for the environment. EVs have more maintenance costs, when one factors in the necessary battery changes, higher insurance, and tires. EVs are much harder on the roads due to their excessive weight. They need to be paying their Fair Share!
That seems low considering all the harm they cause
That was a great scene. DiCaprio is a sorry individual, but he can act.
200 is not enough. The should figure the average annual gas tax cost and then double it for EV owners since they do twice the road damage.
That fine, as long as they don't drive on a road that is paved by with public funds that are derived from distillate fuel taxes. If they do, they should share the burden for maintaining those roads.
“ Those who have an electric vehicle will be responsible for paying the new annual fee in order to recoup tax money.”
Have fun suckers
Kara, YOU do NOT speak for me!!! How can you say it is embarrassing for ALL of us??? I am so sick of you folks believing you are gods with a right to direct our lives that I simply can not stand it any more. Why is it impossible to be around when you say things like that?
Low is absolutely correct. The annual total should be $6-800, but that’s just my own math.
EV’s put wear and tear on the roadways same as any other vehicle.
Gas tax is 20 cents in Texas so if you drove 20,000 miles a yr at 20gpm you would be paying $200 a yr in taxes. Since UV do more road damage it should be double for them
This is what happens when people are cool with taking other people’s private property.
Sooner or later the people ordering the grabbing will get to the folks egging them on.
I am guessing that with texas grid the way it is anyone using enough energy to charge an ev gets put in a higher rate tier and gets taxed on that too.
While I personally dislike the telemetry new e-cars send, the owners opted in with their purchase. The states just have not asked the vendors for the mile data.

Not true. EV damage is much worse due to the fact they weigh considerably more than ICE vehicles.
I wonder what TeslaGator would say about this.
