Not for everyone to be sure but it works splendidly for us. Self contained, portable, unlimited travel range. Also cheap. You can buy a boat like ours for under $20K.
On the other end of the spectrum - We are house sitting this week for the Harbor Master Check out the view. (37 second short vid).

Boat living not for me... I can see the attraction and utility. Off grid doesn’t have to be primitive, I’ve done it both ways.
