Ok so Nancy ran the show and could have fielded fielded objections, but then the "plansurrection" took place, SHE implemented emergency rules which then shut off any objections or debate? I'm trying to recall the sequence.... The new "law" replacing the VP and having the SotH run the show sounds unconstitutional, right?

not quite. Pence was removed a few days earlier. Nancy allowed the objection to go forward under her rules. Which amounted to not allowing the objection to get a quorum under any circumstances

Covid rules of 11 house and 11 senate to be seated in the joint session. That alone didn't allow Trump to get a quorum if it came to that. They must be on the floor for their vote to count.

There was a point of order that contesting this rule. Pence didn't "entertain the Objection" (Note: Pence changed a point of order to an objection. Objections are not allowed in a joint session of congress. point of order is allowed.)

It was against US code and US constitution. They had no legal right to vote him out. Pence nor any republican contest it that I know about. Though the writing was on the wall on Jan 3 for the coup to take place on Jan 6.
