When DeSantis disrespects Trump by calling him an old geezer, so to speak, and has to lie about his age to carry it through, then I also can respond in kind.
Well that could be, but at the time, Ford’s pardon wasn’t considered or meant to be an exoneration, and it’s still conventional wisdom that Nixon was guilty of at least covering up the break in. Undoubtedly DeSantis was operating under that assumption when he made that statement.

Remember to use common courtesy when posting to FR. Leave off the insults and flames, name calling, etc.
We are conservatives. Be respectful to your debate adversary (fellow FReeper). For example, do not accuse them of being a “Putinista”, “commrade”, “murderer”, “baby-killer”, etc, just because he may have a difference of opinion whether or not the US government should be involved in a controversial foreign war where we were not attacked.
Nope! They want DeSantis to say he’d give a pardon to trump. Basically saying, “chances are our guy is going to be found guilty. Please promise that you will pardon him so he doesn’t spend the rest of life in jail.” Why else would that stupid question be asked?

Absolutely! And with good reason! OF COURSE Trump should be pardoned if he’s convicted of crimes which he didn’t commit - which is what’s on the verge of happening. And OF COURSE, it’s a real possibility that Trump could be sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison FOR CRIMES HE DIDN’T COMMIT.
So DeSantis needs to say he would pardon Trump under those circumstances. But it’s not enough. He needs to address the problem of weaponized government honestly and unequivocally, which he’s not doing if he’s unwilling to acknowledge that it’s being used against a political rival of his.
So far, DeSantis message has been that he’s against weaponized government - unless it’s being applied to his political opposition. In other words, he’s not really against it.
Trump can pardon himself. It’s pretty likely trumps going to try for a third time. We’ll see what happens.

What set you off last night was a comment I made about DeSantis. Jim was talking about fellow Freepers.
I had a short fuse last night from working in the 100 degree heat all day. But I kept back.
So this morning I got up and see your post. I still have a short fuse.
Jim wrote what he wrote to make the site more appealing, not to give free reign to assholes like you to be assholes at your convenience.
