No, it’s not sacred, but if your interpretation involves changing a character called “Snow White” into “Not White” then you are just pushing a racist agenda, and that means you don’t care about the story and you’re just going to turn into garbage anyway.
I disagree, if they are being clear that this is a Latino version or a black version or Chinese or Japanese. They have to be upfront about what they are doing and not trying to slide it all by and tell us it’s the same.
In my mind, there is nothing wrong with telling the story of Snow White, as a Latino interpretation, with Latino themes and whether. As long as they are upfront about it. Stories get told and retold all the time doing this. It’s only when they say that white lives don’t matter when rewriting the story that it matters.
