There's so much wrong with this statement... here's an overview:
- With the children she evidently already has, does it make any sense to return her to her home where she has already demonstrated the willingness to take "desperate" actions? What about them?
- What is the current sentence for child abuse that results in the death of an infant in England? Somehow I doubt it would be 50 days of community service.
- Would this woman be getting the same kind of compassion had she 'aborted' a child after birth?
- Which is more cruel? The law or the trauma the baby went through in succumbing to the drugs?
- It's despicable to hear all of this supported in the context of the 'values of society today'.
