New York police arrested a man this month after he allegedly drugged a pregnant woman with the abortion pill and killed her unborn baby.
The arrest of Dia A. Beshara, 39, of Schaghticoke, New York, adds to growing concerns about forced abortions. In 2021, the Biden administration began allowing the abortion drug mifepristone to be sold through the mail, making it much easier to obtain and, at the same time, more difficult for providers to detect coercion and abuse.
The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office said Beshara allegedly forced a woman to abort her unborn baby with the abortion drug mifepristone about 15 months ago.
“The investigation began when the female victim reported that, while she was pregnant, Beshara gave her a drug, mifepristone, without her knowledge, causing a miscarriage,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The report did not include any more details, such as how Beshara allegedly bought the abortion drug or forced the woman to take it. The report does not mention how far along the woman was in her pregnancy either; the FDA approves mifepristone to abort unborn babies up to 10 weeks of pregnancy.
On July 3, authorities said they arrested Beshara on second-degree assault charges after a lengthy investigation. New York repealed its fetal homicide legislation as part of a larger pro-abortion law in 2019, so criminals can no longer be charged for killing unborn babies.
Beshara was arraigned in Schaghticoke Town Court and released on his own recognizance, according to the sheriff’s office. A judge also put a protective order in place for the female victim, the sheriff’s office said.
The arrest is the third since April involving allegations of an attempted forced abortion with abortion drugs. In Texas, police also arrested a Laredo mother in April after she was accused of trying to force her pregnant daughter to take abortion pills to kill her unborn grandchild. A few weeks later, Florida police arrested a 21-year-old woman who allegedly bought abortion pills in an attempt to force her ex-boyfriend’s fiancé to abort her unborn baby.
Mail-order abortion businesses make it easier for abusive parents, partners and sex traffickers to force women to abort their unborn babies. Studies show a strong link between coercion, abuse and abortion, and without an in-person doctor’s visit, it is even more difficult for abortionists to screen women for abuse.
A recent BBC survey found 15 percent of women of childbearing age in the UK felt pressured to have abortions that they did not want. Commenting on the findings, a British midwife with the abortion chain MSI Reproductive Choices admitted many abortion workers have a “blind spot” when it comes to recognizing coercion.
Pressure to abort unborn babies can come from employers, social workers, partners or parents. Coercion sometimes is coupled with abuse, and both mothers and their babies are abused and sometimes killed because the mother resisted pressure to have an abortion.
A 2014 study, “Associations Between Intimate Partner Violence and Termination of Pregnancy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis,” published in the journal “PLOS Medicine,” found that intimate partner violence, including history of rape, sexual assault, contraception sabotage and coerced decision-making, was associated with abortion.
Another study by the Elliot Institute found a high rate of coerced and forced abortions among post-abortive women, as high as 64 percent.
Notably, a number of states have laws to protect women from abortion coercion. In 2022, Indiana passed a law to make sure abortion facilities inform women that coerced abortions are illegal and offer her resources, including the use of a telephone or an alternative exit from the facility to help escape a potential abuser. It also creates felony charges for anyone who coerces a woman into an abortion.
Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in the U.S., opposed the legislation, calling it “redundant” and “dangerous.”
Right now, OB-GYNs and emergency room doctors are suing the Biden administration, saying its decision to allow mail-order abortion drugs is putting women’s and children’s lives at risk.

It’s been like this for a long time. If a woman is driving to the abortion clinic and is in a traffic accident that kills her unborn baby, the driver of the other car could be charged.

From a legal perspective even, its not consistent. And actually illegal. The law wouldn’t accept anyone murdering anyone else based (except a woman) on their feelings the other person was an inconveniece. You cant have the law regard unborn babies two different ways based solely on a womans emotional fluctuating feelings. The law exists because we don’t give people God power over others, yet the gynosocieties do and think they are so profressive and enlightened and the women just love having the sole power to legally murder another.
Gotta guy here from my local berg in KS doing time for grinding up the abortion pill and feeding it to her in her pancakes without her knowledge. He’s guilty of manslaughter (the baby) as he should be. Stupid crooked Police Chief almost tanked the case with shenanigans but it turned out.
