Barbara Marx Hubbard was a futurist, spiritual thinker, author and proponent of what are today lumped under the label of New Age ideas. Hubbard posited that humanity was on the threshold of a quantum leap if newly emergent scientific, social, and spiritual capacities were integrated to address global crises. She believed that humans would graduate to a new level of cooperation and enlightenment.
In 1984 her name was placed in nomination for the vice-presidency of the United States on the Democratic ticket.
