“Scholars” doesn’t sound very credible.
Here is some evidence for the link between some of today’s populations and the Khazars.
“In Elhaik (2013), we tested the genetic diversity among European Jews in light of the two hypotheses: the Rhineland Hypothesis (the narrative) and the competing Khazarian Hypothesis. The results unambiguously support the Khazarian Hypothesis, portraying the European Jewish genome as a tapestry of ancient ancestries and high heterogeneity. This is the most popular paper published in GBE. It was ranked #1 most-read paper since its publication. This work was widely covered by the media (see Press).”

To be clear, you believe the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are not the Jews of today, but are Turkic or Europeans instead? Is that right?

Eran Elhaik is a communist who destroyed his career with this propoganda. He didn't know when and where Khazaria existed. He claimed that Georgians and Armenians are proto-Khazars, which makes no sense. Khazars were Oghur Turks related to Huns, Sibirs, and Bulghars. In fact, until the Khazars and Bulghars were one people under the Gokturk Khaganate. When this empire collapsed the Ak-Katzroi (Khazar nobles) remained loyal to the Ashina Clan, which has ruled the Gokturk Khaganate. Other Oghur Turks followed the Dulo Clan and created Bulgharia Magna. This started a civil war, which the Bulghars lost, leading so to travel up the Volga created Volga Bulgaria, and others to flee to Thrace, creating Balkan Bulgharia under Krum.
Khazars were not a Caucasian people. Worse, Goergia and Armenia were never part of Khazaria. What Elhaik did was the equivalent of calling Indians proto-Chinese.
Elhaik's work was so monumentally stupid that neo-Nazis thought it was a trap.
