If it wasn’t for Peter Grant they wouldn’t have made near as much money as they did. He set a new standard for how his bands got paid for tours and he enforced it brutally. Zeppelin got 90% and the promoters could figure out the rest, no dough, no Zeppelin.
They famously got ripped off for $200,000 dollars after the Madison Square Garden gig in Song Remains the Same. Money stolen out of Hotel safe deposit box in NY. That was a lot of money in the early 70’s.
