If so, what caused the massive volcanic outburst? A dramatic shift in the Earth’s position in the solar system, perhaps?

“Some 650 million years ago, not long after the Sturtian glaciation, the planet plunged into another deep freeze—but no volcanic outburst preceded it...”
Probably some scientists from a previous civilization that thought it would be a good idea to block out the sun to stop global warming.

Any chemists here who can tell me exactly what “chemical alteration” would “Suck CO2 out of the atmosphere?” Thanks. If such really exists, why don’t the crackpots start using it now for “carbon capture?”

    Way before this:
In the primordial days about 4.5 billion years ago when the entire planet was molten, an endless sea of magma totally covered the earth...
Even after countless years of time goes by, where did seeds come from??? Where did life forms come from???

I would say the lime cycle. IE: heat and water.

There is more CO2 on earth then there is on Venus. Which I believe if we pull a large comet(water) to Venus we could have a livable planet in a few thousand years.
photosynthesis would be slower but will fine tune what is needed for us to breath.

Standard models everything is considered constant with what we're today. Science™ has become a freaking joke.

    Bkmrk for later.
I’ve always wondered why it was so difficult to find a geological record. Absent a major solar event, the only other possibilities are GMB, terrestrial (volcanism) or extraterrestrial (asteroid/comet).

    A huge meteor?
—
An asteroid which becomes a meteor when it enters Earth’s atmosphere.
or as someone else (astronomer Tom Van Flandern), posited there were two planets that exploded: one was about that date; this explosion stripped Saturn of its moons (the Saturn Myth) - the Earth and Mars being two of them.
The explosions also changed the solar system configurations driving the gas giants from the inner solar system to the outer. That is the configuration found in all solar systems discovered to date; our solar system is an outlier.
During the orbital and positional change, the Earth would have been wandering (the period of Snowball Earth) until it reached the ‘habitable’ zone.
All that aside, no one knows what the solar system configuration was half a billion years ago - its all conjecture and guesstimates.
The only thing known now is that the solar system configuration is not normal.
