To my knowledge the allies has very limited air support on D day, compared to any modern standard.
That’s not to say air support isn’t needed. We suffered s lot of losses on D Day.

I know we had control of the skies by D-Day, and the 14,000 sorties mentioned in the article says the same. I do realize the limited effectiveness of trying to drop non-precision bombs on beach fortifications with 3 feet of reinforced concrete...but still, one thing for sure - the Germans couldn’t carpet bomb our forces as they were landing.
