Putin is cannibalizing Russia's economy as war in Ukraine derails financial order, Yale researchers say

Those measures have contributed to the flight of millionaires and everyday workers, who have left the country to look for better opportunities, significantly hurting the nation's output and productivity. And though Putin has made a show of Russia's economic strength, his actions have only bought Russia more time, researchers warned.

"That resilience is nothing but a Potemkin façade, sustained not through genuine economic productivity but rather through shaking down the entire country for pennies to direct towards war," Sonnenfeld and Tian said. "Putin can continue to sustain his invasion of Ukraine this way, but in doing so, continues to rip off his own people. In avoiding outright economic collapse by mortgaging Russia's future, he grows more unloved by his people and is thus increasingly weakened.

One of my coworkers is younger and came from Yale. I showed him the Gilligan clip. I had the pleasure of watching someone see it for the first time. LOL

Good riddance.

“Good riddance. abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.”

Thanks, and thanks also for upholding our FR standards!

He (or they) was a nasty one, initially calling me Comrade Bob. I called him Tree Hugger back, but he didn’t care. He later got called out, big time, and so managed to dial it back quite a bit, but then he couldn’t hold off completely, and so, like Putin taught me at the Content Farm Training Center in Slovakia, I held back, until he exposed himself in the open. Then I POUNCED, and he was off to the ‘land of former FRs’.

“Then I POUNCED”

Kind of a strange admission? Did you comment with annoying posts, unwanted posts to entrap? I am not accusing. I basically ignore such spamming trash directed at me & do not “research” negative Freeper comments. So, I am simply unaware & wondering what you did ‘to pounce’?? And, equally surprised that you would be proud ‘to pounce’??

Hopefully, very, very soon Freepers that refuse others the Freedom of thought & expression will leave.

As you may remember, quite awhile ago you & I discussed such attacks made against me. Instead, I choose to be an independent thinker: analytical and refuse to retaliate against such pettiness.

As I am interested in political topics, I rather choose to compare different views to determine which is based on truth and facts with logic and empirical evidence. I can also tell you that I have learned from people whose views are opposite mine. But not because their viewpoint influence or control mine. Instead, because they push me to research further for confirmation of my views.

These silly, silly Freepers just cannot tolerate anyone that would defend freedom for Ukraine that has required Jim Robinson to issue reminder:
“Please knock-off the abusive posts, name-calling, taunting, trolling, stalking, flame-baiting, insults, religious insults, flames, threats, ill-wishes, harassing & annoying posts, unwanted posts & FReepmail, etc, etc, etc ”

I like that, a “rolling monster”. That must excite Paisley Graham. The POWER to hold that in your hand, and wield it must be intoxicating.

Many tried most died.

Some believe Paul Volker may have been the best to date.
Being a large man (6-7) gave him a distinct advantage to hang on and attempt some control.

That said, spending drives the monster wild and only the jamokes in Congress can cut that but they never get around to spending cuts.

“Wasn’t it in our interests to let the Russians and the Krauts carve each other up before we invaded Normandy?”

In a way, that’s how it happened.

One of the German infantry divisions, the 352nd was a mix of experienced soldiers drawn from worn-out or disbanded divisions that had served on the Eastern front, young German, conscripts and a significant number of Ost volunteers.

Another unit, the 709th Static Infantry Division had seen it’s best, and most experienced troops stripped away and sent to the eastern front.

Lastly there is the 716th Static Infantry Division. This division was made up of mostly German elderly and conscripts from German occupied countries.

All in all, if these three divisions were crack SS divisions, and Rommel had free reign over the placement and movement of all the panzer divisions held in reserve, D-Day could have had a far different outcome.

Go read yourself. I tried to have a CIVIL CONVERSATION with the guy, but being a Ukraine Supporter, I guess I was expecting too much.

Thanks for posting that.

The USA was smart to let the Russians take the brunt of the war/casualties in Europe until 1944.

We just walked in and took over Western Europe. But we were fighting the Nazis' JV team.

That’s right, and we used our air, artillery and other means to keep casualties fairly low.

We certainly weren’t up against JV teams in the Pacific.

Not at all. We never beat them, technically. We had to drop the bomb.

Technically doesn’t count in that situation. They were thoroughly whipped when we dropped the bomb. We could have waited them out without dropping the bomb.
