I think it’s probable the CIA/Deep State killed JFK either as revenge for Bay of Pigs, his screwing an East German spy in the White House, or his peace overtures to the USSR (American University speech).
But we will never have as much direct evidence as we do in the revelation that the “author” of the Watergate story was the FBI Deputy Director.

Yup. Those were the good old days when the deep state was anti communist. I think the CIA offed Kennedy to prevent being exposed as contracting the mafia to assassinate Castro. RFK did not know this. J Edgar did.
I always liked Nixon. I was pro Nixon speaker in a debate in 1968 in college. Why Nixon allowed Watergate to undo him has always mystified me. It was so stupid and unnecessary. He won the 72 election by a landslide. He had a juicy enemies list and four years to exact revenge. What a missed historical opportunity.
