The official report claims he drowned in 10 feet of water, while the average depth of the pond is 10 feet.
According to state police, Campbell’s body was found about 100 feet from shore at a depth of 8 feet.
The pond has an average depth of 3 to 4.3 feet. But people can also drown in much shallower water as long as their mouth and nose are submerged, said Tom Gill, vice president of the United States Lifesaving Association.
“It doesn’t even take a meter of water,” Gil said. “One meter of water is enough.”
