I-64W lane on top deck of Sherman Minton Bridge closes again ‘until further notice’ for immediate repair

Officials with the Sherman Minton Renewal Project said a “component of the bridge deck on the Kentucky approach span was found to be in need of immediate repair before traffic can be permitted across the top deck.”
The closure will remain until the repair is completed.
The I-64 West ramp to downtown New Albany, exit 123, will be inaccessible during the closure.

1 day agoThe Sherman Minton Renewal team, which is rehabilitating the 61-year-old bridge, announced a partial closure Wednesday night after discovering needed repairs on the deck of the Kentucky approach span. By Thursday morning, the bridge was completely closed to traffic.

PLEASE STAY WITH ME AS I TRY TO EXPLAIN WHY I THINK THIS DAMAGE HAS HAPPENED TO THE ON RAMP.
Last Thursday I mentioned that my husband and I were eating at a downtown restaurant, when a double long flatbed truck carrying a BIG BLACK TUBE with a strange opening on the end, goes by. It has a police escort and flashing street lights. The street we were on happens to be the millions of dollars city project that has been going on for over 5 years. The Main Street over a famous civil war underground railroad.
So on this millions of dollar street that still only has one lane open, has an extremely heavy double long semi going on it!
AND now the on ramp from Kentucky is closed for repairs. The semi-truck had to have come across that very same bridge and use the on ramp. THE tube wasn’t a normal tube of normal weight. Is an electrical tube or sewer tube that long and heavy?
