My son is like you. He wants another to be company for his girl cat that has never taken to anyone other than him. When he leaves on baseball trips and comes back he says she's really bent out of shape. Then she will talk none stop for hours.LOL
It has taken a year for our youngest Ty who was outside living under our Ford Ranger, to adjust. Some go through so much trauma and if yours' is a stray no telling what the poor thing has lived through to survive.
Now Ty at two chases our 7 year old girl through the house every morning an hour before their 7:00am feeding time. He hides on garbage day, anyone mowing grass, visitor's, any loud noise. He was sneaking up on Mollie(7 yr.old) and slapping her in the face then running. Now they pretty much hang out together on the cat porch. When my son leaves for a few days he leaves out his PJs on the couch.
Hope you start feeling better soon.
