What has happened to Dmitry Medvedev?

He resigned along with the rest of the government on 15 January 2020 to allow Putin to make sweeping constitutional changes; he was succeeded by Mikhail Mishustin on 16 January 2020. On the same day, Putin appointed Medvedev to the new office of deputy chairman of the Security Council.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on statements made by US President Joe Biden, who two years ago refused to give guarantees that Ukraine would not be part of NATO.

"But then he shamefully fled Afghanistan. To cover up this disgrace, he ruined the European economy. Then he brought hundreds of tons of weapons to Ukraine, sparking an extremely dangerous, protracted conflict with Russia, in which the Kievan regime has destroyed what is left of its country. Now, after all resources have been exhausted, it is promising cluster bombs and again waving to the neo-Nazis in Kiev with a NATO perspective, the realization of which means a third world war," writes Medvedev in his Telegram channel.

The Deputy Secretary of the Security Council believes such actions are motivated by following the course "of every American leader and deep US government": to dominate and constrain other countries.

"You could also say he's a sick old man with dementia. Like he doesn't know what he's doing. That's what Trump and a lot of Americans are screaming about. But maybe it's not so. Maybe the dying grandfather, obsessed with morbid fantasies, just decided to walk away nicely, triggering a nuclear Armageddon and taking half of humanity to the afterlife," concluded Medvedev.
