Indeed we did, and would do so again because we don't know of anyplace better.
— NOT banging on you!
Of course not. We all have different priorities.
I’ve only been to Alaska six times and it’s a wonderful place...just remote!
Ah yes! Remote! Although not so much where we are with ferry, barge and airline service to the island; and of course we have our boat. But it is difficult enough to get here that it keeps the riff-raff out.
I have always believed that Quality of life is inversely proportional to population density.
Alaska has over 15% of the land mass of the USA but only 0.2% of the population. There are only three quarters of a million souls in the entire state. There are zero proper "Cities".
I could go on but I have already lured two families to move here. I love Alaska but it is challenging in ways life in the lower 48 is not. It is certainly NOT for everyone. (PTL)
“There are zero proper “Cities”.”
True, but Alaska boasts the top four largest cities in the US (by area)
1, Sitka — 2,870 sq. miles
2, Juneau — 2,704 “ “
3, Wrangell — 2,556 “ “
4, Anchorage — 1,707 “ “
And this makes Juneau the largest capital city in the US...
Interesting trivia!
