Well you chose to live there

Indeed we did, and would do so again because we don't know of anyplace better.

— NOT banging on you!

Of course not. We all have different priorities.

I’ve only been to Alaska six times and it’s a wonderful place...just remote!

Ah yes! Remote! Although not so much where we are with ferry, barge and airline service to the island; and of course we have our boat. But it is difficult enough to get here that it keeps the riff-raff out.

I have always believed that Quality of life is inversely proportional to population density.

Alaska has over 15% of the land mass of the USA but only 0.2% of the population. There are only three quarters of a million souls in the entire state. There are zero proper "Cities".

I could go on but I have already lured two families to move here. I love Alaska but it is challenging in ways life in the lower 48 is not. It is certainly NOT for everyone. (PTL)

I remember back in the 1980s there was a battle between Texas and Alaska with radio commercials advertising their tourist appeal. It was good-natured blustering between the two states. I forget what was said by Texas to trigger this response, but I do remember Alaska's awesome retort. It was something like this ...

"If Texas doesn't mind themselves, Alaska will divide itself in half and make Texas the third-largest state in The Union!" lol

“There are zero proper “Cities”.”

True, but Alaska boasts the top four largest cities in the US (by area)

1, Sitka — 2,870 sq. miles
2, Juneau — 2,704 “ “
3, Wrangell — 2,556 “ “
4, Anchorage — 1,707 “ “

And this makes Juneau the largest capital city in the US...

Interesting trivia!
