Another fan of “The Family Man”...although the final scene is a bit disappointing

I thought the opposite. It was sort of a reverse of the theme of It's a Wonderful Life.

Instead of Cage (Jack) seeing a future without him like George Bailey where everything was awful without him, Jack is shown an alternative future where instead of being a selfish and money-grubbing jerk and actually lonely man that he is in reality, he was shown an alternative of what his life might have been like had he made other choices - a loving wife and kids, a middle class, sometimes struggling and rocky, a life not as a wealthy business executive but a tire salesman, his wife working PT as a non-profit lawyer not making much money but making a difference, but yet a very happy existence, but it was just an illusion of what might have been but wasn’t.

George Bailey was sent back to his happy existence whereas Jack was sent back to his cold, empty and lonely life.

The ending IMO was perfect. He reconnects with Kate and tries to tell her about the future he had seen but knows wasn’t real but convinces here that it still could be. She delays her flight to Paris, and they have coffee so their future is left to our imagination.
