Interesting article on new design for Oregon homeless shelter:

Trump’s plan for homelessness is the only good one. I don’t know if you remember, but he made it public ... WHEN?? I wish I could remember. I read it. In brief, what I remembers is homeless people would be relocated into large areas outside the cities, given food, medical care, etc and divided into groups. Addicts given treatment to get off, others given job training, etc to get them back on the their feet, the mentally ill receiving the care they need. There was a lot more to it, but making them comfortable in their homelessness is not the way.
My nearby small town (population maybe 2000) has a do-gooder group trying to make a “small village” for homeless people here. I know it will be a failure. We have a large number of homeless because there are many free meals every day at various locations, they all get EBT cards and free medical clinic, climate isn’t bad, and almost zero law enforcement.
As a result, more crime, more crap on streets, more drug addiction, more homeless camps in the BLM forests, starting fires, huge trash piles, polluting streams, etc.
“When a former resident of the Path Home Family Village in Portland, Oregon, called and asked if he and his partner could get married at the shelter, Brandi Tuck, the executive director, knew that the shelter’s redesign had truly worked.”
