The saga of the Titan submersible, missing since Monday shortly after it launched to take tourists to see the wreck of the Titanic, is a story that may prove to be as tragic — and maddening — as the tale of the doomed ocean liner itself.
In 2018, experts inside and outside the company sounded alarms about the Titan submersible — most notably, that the craft wasn’t properly certified to dive to the depths necessary to reach the Titanic. OceanGate’s director of marine operations, David Lochridge, wrote a report saying the craft needed more testing, stressing “the potential dangers to passengers of the Titan as the submersible reached extreme depths.”
Two months later, two dozen experts in the submersibles industry — deep sea explorers and oceanographers — sent a letter to OceanGate Expeditions chief executive Stockton Rush saying that the company’s refusal to get a “traditional assessment” could lead to potentially “catastrophic” problems with the Titanic mission.
It should be noted that Mr. Rush is currently onboard the Titan — wherever it may be. A Canadian search plane picked up underwater noises in the search area.

I doubt “OceanGate Expeditions” has much in the way of assets. The only payout will probably be from corporate and personal life insurance policies...IF the passengers could even buy a personal policy. I wonder how much corporate insurance OceanGate carried.

Yes, I made that point in my post.
I think the waiver is meaningless if there was fraud, which it appears there was. If Oceangate was informed that their vessel was not safe, and they didn’t share that with people that PAID (no less), they can’t them require them to waive their rights to litigate.
I think they can sue the CEO personally since he knew it wasn’t safe.

I can’t imagine what suddenly being subjected to 6,000 lbs/psi from every direction does to a body. Is the body compressed into a little ball? Does it shred apart in bloody mass of spaghetti and bits of bone the rebound?

I should have added the phrase 'as you stated' because I was simply reiterating what you said because it is a pertinent counter to those who will suggest that the plaintiffs should sue the daylights out of OceanGate.

I think it is likely lawyers will go after the owners of the vessel that took the submersible to the dive site.
Future tourists can peer at what’s left and feel like they’ve cheated death like these numbskulls that rode on this cheap barge
