Sounds like people are getting fed-up and are taking matters into their own hands. A few years ago the shooter would have called the PD and the guy would have been arrested, but now he knew nothing would be done. I see this as a future trend not just a local story.

You make an excellent point, and you’re probably right.

of a high school football coach’s son ... Garrett was well-known for his athletic skills and personality in Key West.”so the young man's life is defined by his daddy being a coach and him playing high school ball at least 3 years ago. I'm not disparaging the dead, I'm disparaging the reporting.

Both men were reported as being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the shooting.

Peeing on a wall outside a bar? It is very common in many advanced countries.

What surprises me is that victims’ relatives haven’t started attacking the Soros liberal DAs that release criminals that have killed someone and on the other hand charge someone that uses deadly force to protect themselves or someone else with murder.

I think we can assume that he was drunk. This is yet another example of why I'm damn happy that I decided early on to never touch alcohol. Having worked in a big city ER I can guarantee that 90% of the assaults and murders we saw involved alcohol in one way or another. And then there's drunk driving...

After a first degree murder charge, this will definitely NOT become a trend.
The exact opposite is more likely.
American citizens will accept low level crime and disorder as normal, and our standard of living will decline.

The fact that the young dead man was shirtless catches my attention.
I lived the first half of my life in south Florida and worked in the alcohol business.
Except for pool and beach side bars, no hetero drinking establishment allows men to take their shirts off in the bar.
My first thought - had he just been kicked out of a bar for taking his shirt off?

Moral of this story: Don't pee on someone's wall.
For all of the homosexual reputation of Key West, I was there around 1980 while in the Navy, flew into the Naval Air Station, and remember being stopped in town and told to put a shirt on. I was told that I couldn't, as a guy, walk around town without a shirt on. Maybe because I wasn't homosexual?

I've triggered more than a freepers with ideas to get back to respect and beliefs that when someone says " he didnt deserve to die for that", That someone supports anarchy.
I dont think people understand, law and order left the building decades ago. And Your number could be up for scratching someones car in a parking lot.
So the phrase " they didnt deserve to die" is not a valid argument, the pisser didnt act right, the shooter didnt act right, you got 2 guys waving their schlongs at each other in the middle of the night over something stupid and niether one wanted to de-escalate the situation!.
You could say " "stupid should and did hurt in this case".
P.S. I dont support the guy shooting or the deceased, that night they were both on a collision course with each other..Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
