Did Oswald live long enough to be formally indicted?

I don't think so, Jack Ruby shot him.
------

If I recall, Oswald asked for an attorney and he was denied that. Couldn't have Oswald represented by counsel and have his day in court, could they?

It appears he was questioned and put in lineups multiple times in the approx. 48 hours that he lived for after being arrested but not yet formally indicted/arraigned yet.

Oswald was not denied an attorney. He wanted an attorney named John Apt who was the chief counsel for the American Communist Party, but was unable to reach him over the phone. Apt and his wife were at their cabin out of town for the weekend.

The head of the Dallas Bar Association visited Oswald in his cell on Saturday and offered his help, but Oswald said he wanted to try to get hold of Apt or an ACLU attorney first.
