Thanks for a thoughtful reply. I bolsters my view of Free Republic that informed notions — even when we might from time to time disagree — is the place for content-rich notions alongside that other signature of some here — humor. All good thoughts.

I agree. That is why I have been a paying member for many years. I value this forum, even though we do have ignorant d*ckheads here, of which I am occasionally, to my regret and embarrassment, one of.

But the truth is, EVERYWHERE IN LIFE has ignorant jackasses who shoot their mouths off obnoxiously. Because I have to hear and see them in real life doesn’t mean I agree with them, any more than seeing and hearing them on Free Republic means that I agree with them.

I happen to believe in freedom of speech, even ignorant, stupid, racist speech, because...that is the way it is in life. If I love this country, and I do, I have to believe that.

Because if I don’t, I don’t believe in this wonderful country we call America.
