The list leaves out a few biggies:
(A) They should know how to set a budget and stick to it
(B) They should prepare for the fact that in the Real World®, things always have a way of taking longer and costing more than even your most pessimistic projections.
(C) If you think you’ve finished a task, you’d better stop and go over it — ALL of it — at least once more, just to make doubly and triply sure.
(D) Trying to multi-task is usually a BAD idea. Most tasks require your full, and undivided attention, or they can become hazardous very fast.
(E) Yes, people really ARE that petty/venal/evil
(F) Having an open mind is a good thing, but it shouldn’t be so open that your brains fall out.
(G) Trust is earned
(H) Common Courtesy and Respect are not the same thing. Common Courtesy is an entitlement, but Respect is earned.
(I) Forgiveness is not an entitlement
(J) A watched pot never boils

Identify a screw type and select the appropriate screwdriver
Use a screwdriver properly
How to select a wrench for a given nut or bolt
Properly use those wrenches
How to patch sheetrock walls
How to recondition a hole that was stripped by a screw
Fasten wood things together with hammer and nail
Tie knots in rope, how to use that rope
Unclog a toilet
Change a door knob
How and when to use a bubble level
How to use a multimeter, and what to use them for
..things always have a way of taking longer...
A generalization with no basis in fact.
In IT I go into a large shop. A job that must run daily takes over 60 hours to run. They blame DB2. They implement some of my suggestions and it runs in 3 minutes. It they had implemented all of my suggestions it would run closer to 3 seconds.
In another shop my suggestions reduce 1 12 month project to 3 months...and that is only because I made the suggestios in month 2.
Repeadtedly things take longer due to poor design, poor understanding of the situation.
As a consultant I see that many HR and management have the goal of perpetual employment by not solving the problem. Solving the problem would make them jobless.
