What is the meaning of the phrase “seriousness of the charge”? By any measure, this charge of bribery certainly meets the standard of “High Crimes” as set forth in the US Constitution, and it is WAY beyond being merely a “misdemeanor”.

Bribery is certainly a very serious charge, and if it in connection with government service, dealing with a foreign entity, then this all rises to the level of treason, an actionable “high crime” if ever there was.

I should certainly think so. Of course I have a tendency to think like a citizen of the “old America.”
