The story of the aircraft landing in Micronesia during WWII is well known. The natives treated the aircrews as gods. At the end of the war the natives erected airplanes made of straw, hoping to lure the gods back to the island.

History is full of stories about primitive people being visited by technologically advanced people, then mistaking them as gods or demons. The Mayans mistook the Spanish as gods; and, they did turn out to be demons but not in a supernatural way.

The same thing is happening when supposedly more sophisticated people must consider the notion of UFOs. I look at the ET as beings from a distant world, visiting for whatever reason. Others regard them as demons. The "must be demons" approach is the reaction expected from primitives.

The primitives you mentioned saw them as Gods. Christians are the only ones in our modern age that suspects much of the phenomena to be occultic and demonic. I think there may be space faring civilizations that might have been allowed at one time to visit but may have been or will be shortly warned off as God prepares to judge this world. The big fight in the heavenlies may well be a truly universal fight between God aligned planets and Satanic ones as well as between Angels and demons with Christ ultimately and directly intervening.
