Because they view the concept through the lens of our own limited knowledge. It is antiquated thinking that it takes months to send a letter to the other side of the world when it can now be done in a couple seconds by email.

But seriously, your point is probably one of the biggest shocks (or THE biggest) that is going to come out of this "disclosure."
Another one is something I heard last night (from the Ross Coulthart interview of Grusch) and that is that some of these "beings" seem to have malevolent intentions.

What you’re saying here though is SURELY there must be some way to wormhole here and so they’re here. Maybe there is…. But there’s certainly no evidence of it.
