Or, to rephrase slightly: That technology would be supernatural and the beings would be (fallen) angels.
I hold to a very biblical view. I believe demons are not the same as fallen angels, though often referred to as the same.
In my biblical world view:
Demons are disembodied spirits, likely antediluvian, unlike fallen angels who, for the most part, have free reign and maintained their form, except the watchers pre-flood which gave up their oiketerion. Some (here I mean what is commonly known as nephilim spirits) were left upon the earth while others were condemned to hell. Those left upon the earth seek bodies to indwell and I am of a mind they work to create a form of a body to possess for themselves.
I know this may sound a bit much but there is much literature both scripturally, apocryphal and even scientific that supports the concept. One can reasonably posit, in a spiritual world view, that these entities may be aliens creating fleshly bodies to inhabit (think ill formed aliens such as the greys).
You and I can settle this and then have a big belly laugh in the hereafter.
Yeah, right.
If we are using their tech, we really suck at it.

Maybe we don't even have the technology to understand, let alone reverse engineer, the tech these craft seem to have.

Exactly. If we’re in possession of advanced tech of non-human origin, the LAST thing we should do is make it public for the Chi-coms or the Russians to exploit.
