I worked also with a guy that was there at Kent State as a National guardsman. I did ask him about it once, but it was pretty obvious that he didn’t want to talk about it. I did not press the issue.
I was in 5th grade when it happened. I recall seeing the national guard heading south past our school when I was on my way home. I lived in suburban Cleveland at the time. Kent is maybe 35 miles or so southeast of where I lived.
I was a senior in high school when Kent State happened - just a few days before graduation. The instigators were the SDS (Bill Ayers) and other radical groups. They had infiltrated the campus and were poisoning the minds of the students. They bear the responsibility for what happened. Bill Ayers and his radicals are still going strong today - 50+ years later. They and other radical groups are complicit in the destruction of our country.
Wow, thanks for the personal entry. Too bad he never talked about it. It must have been surreal seeing the NG go by.
