Texting and driving?
The tow truck was in a travel lane and did not have the amber flashing lights turned on.
Hold muh beer.
The return of Evel Knievel.
Years ago, on highway headed southbound, and a dull grey night, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a lot of sparks being produced by some vehicle about 2 miles back, also southbound.
Kept an eye on that vehicle, and it was moving fast. After a while, it caught up.
It was a tow truck with a car on the hook, and as the truck and its “customer” pulled alongside, there was a sight.
The after 20% of the towed car, was gone - filed away by the concrete highway. Obviously the tow truck driver was “upset” In a big hurry. No care at all.
And away they went, south and into the night. Sparks flying.
Bondo, James Bondo...
“...before taking flight for approximately 120 feet, flipping and rolling over in the process...”
Not as difficult as it may seem. I once beat that in a green 1979 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue. Its not as difficult as one might think, I wasnt even really trying.
Though I cant claim to know for sure how long or far I was actually airborne during that distance. I do know that according to the officer that wound up cleaning it up that I “rolled it at least four times and flipped it end to end three”.
The car was totaled but I walked away with no problems.
Hey! Did I ever tell you about the time I did this in a 1979 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue? Its not as difficult as one might think...
Florida woman imitates the Dukes of Hazzard ping.
Now flagged as a flight risk
...maybe she wanted to get a jump on the guy in the slow lane!
This video has been added to my PowerPoint presentation I use when teaching the airborne equations to my Traffic Crash Reconstruction students.
BOOKMARK
My son is a trucker. He parks his pickup all week at a small truck stop while he’s on the road. The truck stop is near a freeway exit where drivers must turn right or left.
One night at 2am, a drunk driver decided to go straight and pulled a Duke’s of Hazzard imitation over the embankment, flew about 30 feet and drove right into the only pickup truck in the parking lot. My son’s truck.
It also got caught on video.
Don’t text and drive note tires squealing about one second before ramp jump.
