Ninety percent of NYC office buildings are in distress. The overall vacancy rate is above 22 percent. They’ve shed $76 billion in value. In San Francisco, vacancies are 30 percent and hotel room revenues are down 30%.
NY and SF thought they were invincible and that businesses and residents would take unlimited abuse. Covid taught the world that we actually don’t need either of them.
