The little boy who made friends with the boy inside the fence had a sweet sister at the beginning of the movie. As the movie progressed this sweet girl was brainwashed into a Nazi. The movie showed the progression of her changing.

I’ll have to try to find the video or reread the book and pay attention to the little sister.

I’ve been watching a lot of videos and reading about life in Nazi occupied countries. Between the schools and the Hitler youth, the youngsters were definitely brainwashed. It was especially sad how they treated the Jewish children in their schools, up until the time they were taken away of course. These were their former classmates and friends.

I’ve read a little bit about the Concentration Camp survivors, and why most of them wanted to go to palestine. Or to the US or england. Most did not want to go back to where they came from, even though they were born there and so were many of their ancestors. Not only was most of their family gone, but it was their fellow countrymen that turned most of them in. One in particular was a lady from Hungary, her family had been there from generations. They felt like Hungarians. But not after being persecuted for months by fellow Hungarians before being sent to Auschwitz.

So it’s not just the children. And not just the Germans. It’s kind of like what we see now. Here. Seems like anybody can become evil.
