My friend had the opposite experience. Her first baby delivered shortly after the warning signs were given. It didn’t seem to phase. Her second baby took much, much longer and had her cord wrapped around her neck. Terrifying to hear! I don’t think she was quite prepared for what she had to go through because the first time was so easy. She was the palest I’d ever seen of anyone before, when they finally brought her out of the delivery room.
Wow - you just never know. Most of the time everything is fine. It’s that one rare time when things go bad.
A century ago, many things could go bad. Child bearing was a big risk. Walk in some of the old cemeteries and see the number of young mothers who died in childbirth and after.
