i was living in NYC in 1976 - and will never forget the tall ships. it was a time of renewed patriotism - and we could use a massive injection of that. of course we’ll have to decide whose history we’re going to use...
Had my Junior Prom dinner on Moshulu, a tall ship, made of steel construction, docked at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. $25 bucks in your pocket and a train ride and I was a King! After prom, drive to Harvey’s Cedars for a beach sunrise with your gal. Spend the day on the beach and return home by midnight on Sunday! We had classes the next day.
After the Kona Kai, you take a cab to the Tower Theater, to see Todd Rundgren, Hall & Oates, The Spinners, or Grover Washington Jr., take a cab back to the Kona Kai, which was in the Sheraton Hotel, and talk your gal into spending the night. Best times ever!
