I wish we had America the Beautiful as our anthem. It was written during a cross country trip by an American about how beautiful America is. Our current anthem was not written in America, the lyrics yes, but the melody is a British drinking song.

It was spitting in the Brits eye.
But had America used America the Beautiful as our anthem
( which WOULD be awesome I agree )
and she had so altered it
thus robbing US(a)
of a unifying event
I would be incensed.
