In a menacing and bizarre turn of events, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has promised nukes to all who side with Russia. This nuke giveaway was announced on a pre-recorded program, a significant detail, now that some people are suggesting Lukashenko may be on his death bed.
This is pure speculation, yet what is absolutely clear is that the dictator’s latest decision to let Russian nukes into his country is a severe blow to the people of Belarus – more so than to the country’s neighbors, who have already grown used to nuclear sabre-rattling on the part of Vladimir Putin.
Is there an exit route for Belarus, trapped in a toxic relationship with Moscow, saddled with Russian tactical nukes and filled with disquiet among citizens as the number of political prisoners continues to rise? On Monday 29 May, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a telephone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye, who won the election the day before.

DETAILS: As Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter, in a telephone conversation he noted Erdoğan’s personal role in continuing the Black Sea Grain Initiative, “which is a significant component of the world’s food security.”
QUOTE: “Cooperation between Ukraine and Türkiye is important and effectively contributes to the well-being of our peoples and international stability. We will continue to develop it and work together to strengthen the security of the region, Europe and the world!” the head of state added.
