North Dakota parents blast school district for keeping parents in the dark about their kids' gender identities despite new law banning the practice earlier this month

North Dakota parents have blasted a school district for keeping parents in the dark about their kids' gender identities - despite a new law banning the practice earlier this month.

Enraged parents took to the floor at a board meeting on May 23 and accused the Fargo Public Schools district of 'facilitating secret-keeping.'

School district superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi recently said that the district won't comply with the new state law requiring teachers to not withhold information from parents regarding how a child's pronouns.

Instead, Dr Gandhi believes that the district should instead advocate for students who identify as transgender.

He said: 'We will not openly out any student because of one law if we know that that's going to cause harm to that child.'

The bill, formally cited as HB1522, stops school boards from adopting policies requiring the use of a student's preferred pronouns - and prohibits the school district, boards, or teachers from 'withholding or concealing information about a student's transgender status from the student's parent or legal guardian.'

The district, on the other hand, believes that potentially unsafe home environments could create conflict if they are forced to tell parents the preferred identities of the children.

Parents of children in the district slammed the schools for 'facilitating secret-keeping' and accused them of attempting to break the law.

One father said: 'The way I see it, the way I heard it is that you want to protect kids from their parents. Instead of encouraging everyone to talk more, you are suppressing talk.

Don’t merely “blast” it - sue.

Legislature needs to remove him from office.

This is what they get for hiring an Indian to run an American school. He’s clearly violating state law, he should be fired, and he should be deported.

I just looked up this bill and it looks like another one of those bills that does not even list any penalties for non compliance. What a joke.

The DOJ is probably watching those “domestic terrorist” parents. Amazing how this country has changed.

State employee....won’t comply with state law. Shouldn’t take more than five minutes to write a termination notice and fire the guy.

As a parent, if a teacher is talking to my child about perverse sexual acts, I can only assume that the teacher is also performing those same sexual acts with my child. There can be no other reason for the concealment.

“State employee....won’t comply with state law.”

School superintendents are employed by their respective district & elected school board. The board has chosen to back this contrary to law policy. Firings will have to originate from the electorate by removing board members and replacing them with new members who will follow the law.

Why would state police not be sent to arrest Dr Ghandi?

If it was parental nullification going on, that is what would happen.
