It could be that Zephaniah 3:9 has more than one meaning and could be partial fulfilled.

I was careful in my earlier reply to specify 'Biblical Hebrew' {Masoretic Text & DSS} in contrast to Israel's modern spoken Hebrew when thinking about the pre-Babel language of Noah.

That's an important distinction.

Some of the oldest Hebrew writings (1200BC) were discovered recently on  Mount Ebal.  Joshua was instructed to make a stone altar to the Lord on Mount Ebal.

30 Then Joshua built an altar unto the Lord God of Israel in mount Ebal,

32 And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel. Joshua 8

Some of these writings were discovered embedded in tablets and are probably Joshua's actual handwriting of ancient Hebrew.

***An Early Israelite Curse Inscription from Mt. Ebal?***

Oh gosh; This opens up old avenues of study and controversy. There is much to discuss with this 'inscription'. First, the article says it is rendered in 'Proto-Hebrew alphabet', but that seems to be a poorly defined term. A web search of 'Proto-Hebrew' - or 'Paleo-Hebrew' - does not yield the characters reproduced in the unverified Ebal inscription.

Second, there is the argument whether there is an inscription evident or not. Third, it is pointed out that there is no evidence that the artifact could be associated with Joshua mention in Scripture.

I say old avenues because of a confrontation I created with BAR and its high praise of Orly Goldwasser in her article How the Alphabet Was Born from Hieroglyphs in a March 2010 BAR issue.

I pointed out to BAR that, while Ms. Goldwasser's article was impressive in its insights, and that they could be her own original research, her article and graphics had been presented in near duplication in a book, A Study of Writing, by I.J. Gelb in 1952 and updated in 1963. I wrote a detailed presentation including the graphics, side by side, of Gelb and Goldwasser.

I also addressed a copy of the letter to Ms. Goldwasser; she replied that she found that interesting and that she would get in touch with me soon regarding my evidence. She never did write again.

BAR refused to respond to my exposition. Now, in doing a web search for early Hebrew scripts and texts, I find numerous articles praising Ms. Goldwasser for her brilliant research and presentation of the origins of the modern alphabet.

I just ran into Ms. Goldwasser's email at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and am tempted to write her and compliment her on successfully stealing Gelb's work, images and all and gathering all the praises unto herself... but to what end? No one cares these days. sigh

. . . . . . . . . .
Q Thread, forgive this slide. My original interest was in getting FReeQers to keep an eye on Yuval Noah Harari since his views and actions are central to the development of The Great Reset and the global cabal. I have been distracted and some intestinal upheaval and may have wandered astray.
