As I stated in the headline when I started this posting and thread when I asked the question and answered it:

If I were a Kenyan official, I would gladly say that the head of the then most powerful country in the world had been born in Kenya. If I were a publisher, I might say the same thing, but the costs and difficulty of a pregnant woman flying off to Kenya to meet her new husband’s other wife and White-hating father were probably prohibitive for a student couple or the wife’s middle class parents back in 1961.
