Why is that statement any more credible than Nolan's?
As folks have said, Nolan is a well-known, well-regarded scientist and tenured professor at one of the top medical schools in the world. At that school, he has his own lab, which is one of the top med school labs in the world.
He is a credible person who has made an otherwise incredible statement.
Wouldn't it be just as outrageous to say, without any evidence, that he is lying or that he is confused?
My point is that he might well be lying (I can't imagine his motives for staking his career on such a lie) or he might even be mistaken.
Bottom line: We just don't know at this point in time. But he has stuck his neck out and will presumably either put up or shut up.
