It is distressing to see so many posts that have already formed a virtual lynch mob. Of course they have. It is the Free Republic way these days.

Who will protect us from corrupt cops if not the force of our own arms?

This is why I am a firm proponent of public servants (not just the law enforcement, all of them) being required to have all public interactions be recorded. I think they ARE required to have their body cameras on. They just turn them off, and there is RARELY any repercussions. That’s why they continue to do it. Then they wonder why they get little respect from the public.

Some of them are, some are not.
I have to admit when they have vest cams and they have "equipment failure" in a questionable situation my first instinct is to think that they are coving up something. Probably not always fair. But usually it is.

I think there is little equipment malfunctioning. I remember seeing one. I think it was in Michigan. A cop shot a taser at a kid and the accident killed the kid. If I recall correctly, everyone turned off their body cams, except one, and the cop is doing time for it.

When it is more then one I immediately think cover-up.
One, it is possible that the equipment broke. Two, just no.
But the police have been cleared of wrong doing quite often because they kept their cameras going.

A while back I read that some members of that reservation — which sits on the border — are involved in drug trafficking, and it is a major corridor. The article I read was an anti-Trump piece, which was trying to make a case against a wall being built on or near the reservation.
