Police arrested a 15-year-old student after he allegedly brought an AR-15 and ammunition to a Phoenix high school on Friday, authorities said.

The student is facing "serious felony charges" after allegedly bringing the semi-automatic rifle — the weapon behind a dozen of the 21 deadliest mass shootings in the U.S. since 2006 — to Bostrom High School, where he was arrested in the main office around 1 p.m. on Friday, according to a news release from the Phoenix Police Department.

Authorities also allegedly found more ammunition in the student's backpack and lunch box, according to the police department.

School officials alerted police after "others on campus" told them "that the student may have a gun," Donna Rossi, director of communications for the Phoenix police, told NBC News.

Administrators received the alert about the possible weapon on campus during the lunch time at the school, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Union High School District said in a statement.

The school went into a lockdown "as soon as school officials were notified of the possible gun on campus," Rossi added.

School officials looking into the allegation of the possible weapon "discovered the report was accurate and local authorities intervened and confiscated the weapon," the statement from the school district said.

Sounds like a crazy got caught, but the whole thing reads like a lib “just so” story. Seems a little bit fishy.

I’m not on Facebook or Twitter, but I suspect the 15 year old gunman is now known to all those students. He had a lot of ammunition. Luckily, someone spoke up and interrupted his plan. This is what they call an ‘alternative school environment’, usually meaning, kids prone to starting trouble are at this school instead of juvenile hall.
I guess he wasn’t ready to ‘turn his life around’.

"AR-15s are known to inflict extensive damage to the human body and are more likely to be deadly than other firearms are."

More deadly than 117 year old 30-06 and the .270, both popular hunting cartridges?

Yes, a 5.56x45 will kill and do a lot of damage, but, as a rifle round, it's relatively anemic, classified, typically as a varmint cartridge, rather than for big game.

This is what you get when you task a reporter to write a story that he or she knows nothing about or is, just a propagandist.

My 1874 Sharps 45-70 make a mighty big hole compared to a mall .223. Just saying.

Gee, sneaking a rifle into school. Probably not an easy thing to do these days.

What, was he in the band and had it inside his Cello case?

Pink trench coat, can’t question it because it would be homophobic or whatever they want to call it.

Walk right in.

Yes, it will.

A popular buffalo gun.

Would much rather have that than a 5.56, if a buffalo bull or grizz was close by.

Gee, where are all the Kyle Rittenhouse fans to prop him up? A 15 year old took a loaded semi automatic rifle into an area that put people in danger and the fans are not trying to justify it? I’m disappointed that this guy may end up in a lot more problems when he didn’t get the opportunity to use it killing someone and he’s the bad guy. Hardly seems fair. So I guess shooting and killing someone changes the whole situation? He sure messed up.

Only a complete ignoramus would make a comparison between this wannabe school shooter and Kyle Rittenhouse.

No surprise that you volunteered to be the one.

Correct.

.223 loads are high velocity, but the largest practical bullet size outside of very close range is around 60-65 grains.

But, the AR 15 rifle will also handle upper receivers and barrels for:

Big Bore-

.458 SOCOM
.50 Beowulf
.338 Federal
.338 Winchester Magnum
.450 Bushmaster

And more common:

7.62 x 39
6.0 Creedmoor
6.5 Grendel (incredibly long range accuracy and typically 123 grain bullets)

So not all AR 15 rifles push 22 caliber bullets.

You need to do more homework.

And the jury found him not guilty of the charges.

The media did everything they could to convict him on TV and the propaganda of social media was guilty of trying to destroy him.
