I don't have an update on prognosis, but he seems to have medically stabilized so the hospital case worker will help him apply for Medicaid/Medicare (I forget which one) in order to secure funds for in-home care or the type of assistance he needs when he leaves the hospital.
Initially the palliative care doctor had said that he could leave the hospital if/when he didn't need a doctor to guide his daily medications. So apparently his medications and dialysis have him on an even enough plane to make plans to leave. The dialysis makes him very sleepy, but he feels better.
Until Medicaid/Medicare funding is available for the appropriate enhanced care living arrangements, he has elected to move into an 'adult family home' situation (they provide care for him).
I'm going to be praying for a family setting wherein they love him as much as we do, pray for him as many here do, and enjoy his sense of humor, in addition to praying for healing, hope, happiness and...uhm....maybe a MAGA home setting, too? Would be good, wouldn't it? Oh, and rapid access to enhanced care funds (medicare) and Social Security (he's applying for both).
Thank you, Lord! Continuing in prayer....
