[How do we know it a legit fund me site?]

If you go to the Twitter link https://twitter.com/RonDeSantisFL/status/1657212176178855939, you’ll see it’s DeSantis’s official Twitter account. The Twitter link provides the givesendgo URL. I just copied it to this website. Then there’s this article from a rabidly left-wing NYC website, which doesn’t provide the link, but does whine about givesendgo being used to raise money for Jan 6 defendants:

https://gothamist.com/news/daniel-pennys-lawyers-crowdfunding-on-a-site-thats-supported-divisive-conservative-causes
[Attorneys for Daniel Penny have collected more than $280,000 for a legal defense fund through a website that bills itself as a Christian fundraising platform and has supported several divisive right-wing cases.

The official fund, generated by law firm Raiser & Kenniff, P.C. which is representing Penny, had raised more than $283,000 as of 11 a.m. Friday. Penny’s lawyers confirmed they set up the fund on GiveSendGo, and said it launched earlier this week.]

The law firm itself has a website:

No idea how good it is, but a guy with his name on the shingle ran, on the GOP ticket, against Bragg for the DA job. So this is a rematch of sorts, but in the courtroom instead of on the hustings.

[Thomas Kenniff believes that New York City is teetering on a precipice.

Mr. Kenniff, the Republican candidate for Manhattan district attorney, is not referring to Covid-19 or climate-related disasters, like the flooding that killed 13 people in the city last month.

No, it is crime that worries Mr. Kenniff — crime, and progressive policies that he believes have contributed to its rise, particularly the bail reform law that went into effect in January 2020, which stopped criminal courts from setting cash bail on most misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies.

Though legal experts who have studied the matter say there is no clear connection between that law and the rise in some categories of violent crime, including murders and shootings, Mr. Kenniff, 46, is convinced that a link exists.

“As a result of misguided criminal justice policies that embrace criminals at the expense of victims, we are seeing an increase in violent crime and a decrease in quality of life like nothing we have experienced in years,” he said in a recent debate with his Democratic opponent, Alvin Bragg. ]
