Great family ,love their beer. Have drank the premium for 20 years and the Black & Tan and Porter is exceptional . They should be American’s #1 beer.

I don’t think they have the capacity to achieve that label, yet. I have been around the brand all my life. I can remember my one grandfather drinking Yeungling. I am thinking that was probably Yeungling Premium. He kept the empty cases of returnable bottles under the porch.
They reintroduced the Lager probably 40 years ago and it was a hit which seemed like a fad in the 90’s. Everyone (in PA) was ordering a “lager” in the 90’s it seemed like. It is still quite popular around here (central PA).
I vaguely recall a news interview with Dick Yuengling and the discussion was about how they couldn’t keep up with demand. Interestingly, at the time, they had no plans to expand to meet demand. I suspect they weren’t sure if the popularity would continue. It has remained popular. at least in my area, some 40 years later.
I just checked their website out and see they have expanded to several other states over the past 10-15 years. So I guess one could say they are marching toward America’s #1.
I am only an hour away from Pottsville and really need to go take a tour of the original brewery.
